About Asaria

Asaria was born January 26, 2006 at a time when I was in a really depressed state of mind. I wanted to escape and explore this new world that I had stumbled across on my Internet adventures. It wasn’t until about February 6 or so that I actually logged in for the first time. I wandered around as a noob for a while before coming across a complete avatar that I loved and decided to purchase it. That was after about 3 days of just exploring this new world. Then since I love to learn, my next adventure started by discovering the Search button and the Events section. So I searched for education and found a lot of classes being taught at a place called TeaZers.

Once I discovered TeaZers, I was hooked on this place. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and it was just a really fun place. You could learn many aspects of Second Life and have fun doing it. I managed to hang out there long enough to meet the owner of TeaZers, First Page. She was totally cool in so many ways. I spent all my time at TeaZers, it was like my new home. That was until I decided to upgrade to a premium account, which allowed me to buy my first land and build my first house.

I ended up talking my “sister” into joining me on SL since we had spent all our time for the past three years (maybe more) on Ragnarok Online. It was nice to have aleast one person from RL in SL with me. She ended up joining me, most times, for the classes at TeaZers. We enjoyed it and had a blast trying to out build or out script each other

Best Friends Forever

I must say that TeaZers was the best thing to ever happen to me. Why? Because TeaZers is where I ended up meeting some of the best friends a person could ever have. Who are they? Glad you asked

As we was spending a lot of time sitting in the lobby at TeaZers, we managed to meet a lot of people. We had music provided by Simkast and the DJ’s was usually always there to get requests and to tell everyone to get their butt’s over there. Then one day, we was sitting in the lobby doing the usual goofing off thing when we ended up talking to a couple of people that we had no clue would end up being our best friends forever. First person we met was Rocinante Mandelbrot, a kinda quiet geeky guy (who was awesome no matter how geeky) and Ipenda Keynes (noob with a hidden secret of being totally cool). After spending a lot of time talking with them, Roc (Rocinante) talked one of his best friends in RL into joining him on SL. This will come into play a little later

This started what I would like to call the “Beginning of a SL Family”. So we had Asaria (me), Felanis Soyer (my “sister”), Roc (Rocinante), Ipenda Keynes and Compulov Weeks sitting there talking for long hours. We had a few other friends in the mix, but most didn’t end up becoming part of this “family” that we ended up with. We still talk to them sometimes, but it’s not like the ones I mentioned that ended up being family. But since those days, we (Asaria, Felanis, Ipenda and Compulov) have become what you would consider a close SL family.

Fast forward to about July of 2006 and this brings us to a time where some things were changing a bit to fast around TeaZers. We had all become Instructors (LL paid Instructors) and instructors at TeaZers. We was having a blast learning more and helping others learn more. That was until a drastic change in things at TeaZers made us start doing some hard thinking about our SL futures. We still talk about this event even to this day, as we believe it was what made us move in the direction we did.

First Page was moving around everything like she normally did and was talking about changes in the way things was going to be done. After the move of the lobby and all the drastic changes, we decided to quit TeaZers and be jobless for a while. We wanted to get back together and explore SL again. We wanted to “experience” SL again like we hadn’t done for a while. We spent a few months just relaxing and talking for a few months until me and Ipenda had an idea.

Me and Ipenda loved to teach, we loved to learn. So we wanted to share that with others in a way that would help them be more productive and to enhance their expereince in SL. We came to the conclusion that we would start our own little school to help out people. When I first came to SL, I had started a group with a name based off an old guild name on Ragnarok Online that me and “sis” (Felanis) ran for almost 4 years. hat name was “Passionate Angels” . But little did we know that there was a RL porn named that and we had planned on calling the new school “Passionate Angels University”. So to keep anything from coming up about the name, we thought hard for a while and came to the descision to use the name “Paws Above University”. We had to have a name that went with the initials we already had “PAU” because of everything we had made with those initials already.

So Paws Above was born and we starting teaching classes following a neat way that Ipenda came up with. We didn’t want scripted (copy/paste) classes like we had to do at TeaZers, and we didn’t want all the management overhead that had to be dealt with like TeaZers either. so we ended up with concept-based classes and very little management needed. To teach a class at PAU, you was given a notecard with goals that was to be accomplished by the end of class. This worked great and we had a decent turnout. Classes was going well and attendance was gaining daily. That was until LL (Linden Labs) pulled the plug on paying Instructors and announced that the Instructor program was coming to an end.

We kept on doing what we was doing and everything was working great. We managed to upgrade to bigger land over time and expand what we offered. But now, we have hit a roadblock in the expansion of PAU. We have less intrest in education in SL. Income for PAU is declining at a very bad rate, and so is attendance. We are barely able to pay the land rent by the end of the month. But we are still trying to press on.

But back to me, this is my about page. I managed to lose interest in teaching and I have no clue why really. It was fun but it never seemed to be the right thing for me. I have yet to find the “right thing for me” still. I have been learning new things and reading tutorials to try and learn more.

Relationships

Yes, I had a few relationships so far in SL. My first realtionship was with a DJ for Simkast named Lex Blabbermouth. We dated for a while and had a few issues (who doesn’t?). We broke up twice and ended up back together until I finally ended up moving on. I had moved on to better fish as they say lol. My next relationship was with Comp (Compulov). Yes, dating in the “family”. We both had feelings for each other but being the shy type like we both are, it took a little help from sis to push us to tell each other how we felt.

I will never forget the night when Comp told me how he felt. He was DJ’ing for PAU one night and I kept noticing a pattern in the music he was playing. It was all love songs Then sis IM’s me and asks if I happened to notice a pattern in his music, which I said yes. all she said was “good”. Then I got an IM from Comp that made me cry. “I have liked you for a long time now, ever since the first night we sat there on the couch at TeaZers. I want to know if you have any feelings for me?” I about passed out, this was like THE happiest moment in my SL life. Those words just made me feel so happy because I had feelings for him back then too. I was just to shy to tell him how I felt and was to afraid of rejection to do it too.

So we ended up partnering for a long time and we was happy together. We had a few issues, but we both managed to make things work out. Until…. (don’t you hate those until’s?) Comp had talked to someone at one of the classes at PAU. And why he was talking to her about having a 3-way, I have no clue. But anyway, we decided to do it. Dummy me, being bi-sexual in RL & SL, ended up getting a little to close to her and it ended up causing me and Comp to break up. I realized that I had made a HUGE mistake in choosing her over Comp. Not long after this bad choice, me and comp was back together again.

This brings us to today and where I am in regards to relationships. Me and Comp are more like close friends now then we are a couple. So I guess we really need to sit down and talk about where we stand on a relationship right now. I am sure it has to do with my issues in RL, but I want to know exactly how he feels now and what we will do in the future.
